From Nadea Mina at Thomas Dunne Books:

Veteran culinary professional Suzanne Carreiro lived in Umbria next door to her “adopted” family for a year and a half to write The Dog Who Ate the Truffle (Thomas Dunne Books; ISBN 0-312-57140-2; $25.99/August 2009).  The book is her personal look at the region’s recipes and culinary traditions, many of which can be traced back two thousand years to the Etruscans—roasting meat on a spit, making wine, pressing olives to make oil, making cheese, and cooking with saffron, pepper, and bay leaves. The Dog Who Ate the Truffle is an intimate look at these ancient customs and the people who pass them on from one generation to the next. To read more . . . Print Press Release.

From Suzanne:

Everyone wonders how I came to write a book about Umbria, but the more interesting story is how things evolved after I arrived at my apartment near Umbertide in the Upper Tiber River Valley. Print Letter from Suzanne
